Choosing A style

All web sites can look very different but in reality there are only a few different basic styles. The difference comes in images, colours and menu layout.

One of the major factors influencing the design of any web site and a CMS in particular is the menu structure.

So what's the difference and why do you care?

Remember that a content management system allows you to make your own changes to content and images only. We have to maintain the integrity of the site layout so it doesn't end up looking like a dogs breakfast. The borders, menus and any other objects must stay where they are.

Each time you add a new page the page title automatically appears in the menu. A vertical menu is basically limetless and will extend down the page as more pages are added. And any content under it will just move down.

A horizontal menu is limited to the page width, you dont want to be scrolling to the side to see the next link! Put too many new pages into the menu and it will push the borders out to the right and...there's your dogs breakfast.

Now this may or may not be a concern to you. If you want a horizontal menu and believe that in the grand scheme of things you will only ever have the number of pages and subsequent menu links to fit across then no problem.

If your planning on a massive site with lots and lots of pages then a vertical menu is best for you.

If you really would like a horizontal menu we can still create one that will automatically be added to when new pages are created, this menu would be a "drop down" style as shown below.

Drop down or slide out menus are not part of the current pricing but can be retrofitted to your site later if things get to big! Please request a price.
